Wildcats continue to improve roster with top British talent Tia Freeman

Nottingham Wildcats are excited to announce the addition of young British star Tia Freeman.

Freeman was the third leading scorer with Oaklands Wolves last season and helped them to their first ever Play-Offs appearance.

After representing GB at both U16 and U20 level, Freeman averaged 10ppg in the league last season, logging 15 starts and leading her team in free throw attempts, free throws made and also shot above 30% from the three-point line.

“It will be a great fit for my future development,” said Freeman. “They have a great setup and joining a team with a number of quality players already announced shows that they have great ambition for the league this year.”

Freeman is the fourth signing for Wildcats, having already announced returning fan favourites and league leaders Jasmine Joyner and Chelsey Shumpert, followed by the signing of SEC graduate and Portuguese youth international Simone Costa.

Nottingham head coach Kenrick Liburb previously coached Freeman during her first season in the WBBL with Oaklands Wolves.

“Already having played a season with Kenrick as my coach means he has a good understanding of my game and how I can fit into the team,” added Freeman.

Liburd commented, “I am really excited to work with Tia again, she has improved every year and knows the league well. She has a real desire to get better and has added new facets to her game over the last three years. We are really excited that she has decided to continue her journey with us.”

Speaking on what she hopes to accomplish with Wildcats, Freeman said, “I’m looking to assist Nottingham in lifting a trophy and competing with the best the WBBL has to offer.

“Individually I want to be able to compete with the top players in the league and training with Nottingham’s roster should have a huge effect on my development. I can’t wait for the season to get underway and being one of the top contenders in the league.”
