Captain Prior returns for 2019/2020

Nottingham Wildcats today confirmed Siobhan Prior will return for the club in the 2019-20 season.

Prior, who was also Team Captain for Wildcats last year, was impacted by injury last season but that did not stop her from shooting nearly 40% from the three-point line and becoming the third leading scorer on the team, averaging 12ppg.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to build on what we have started here,” said Prior. “We have a structured team pre-season starting in early September and I’m really looking forward to that. It will be a great time to bring in new people and welcome back others.”

Coach Liburd added, “Last season was definitely very different; we had not signed anyone at this point and we brought in two key players the same week of our first game and Jasmine following that. I’m excited to be thinking about what we can do with a full pre-season.”

With a solid start to the season that tapered off to a sxith place Championship finish and a Play-Off Quarter Final loss on the road to rivals Sheffield Hatters, Wildcats will want to ensure that this campaign is more fruitful.

“Siobhan brings energy, toughness, and experience alongside technical ability,” said Liburd

“It is exciting to be bringing back a leading three-point scorer and our team leader. It feels like we are building something and have players that believe in the club’s values.”

Prior, who is also a GB/England International, said it was the club’s aim to continuing building upon its trophy accomplishments.

“We are a club that has won a lot and those are still our goals,” she said. “Winning everything that is on the table for us, is what we will always aim to do. But we are also a club built on family foundations and having that flow through the club all the way to the top, with our WBBL team, is something we have prioritised.”

“Retaining Jasmine and Chelsey is a huge part of that and I’m excited to bring new people into our ethos and continue to build our culture.”
